Constants worth memorizing
Knowing which R to use saves more points than memorizing extra formulas: use 8.314 J/(mol·K) whenever the answer is in joules (ΔG, Nernst), and 0.08206 L·atm/(mol·K) for gas-law and osmotic-pressure problems in atmospheres.
How to use this sheet
Most exam questions do not ask you to recall an obscure formula. They ask whether you can rearrange and interpret a handful of common ones. So rather than memorizing this page top to bottom, work through the calculator linked next to each equation until you can predict which way a value moves before you compute it. If you know that raising pH above a pKa deprotonates a group, that ΔG is negative when Q sits below K, and that velocity is half of Vmax at [S] = Km, you can reason through most of the quantitative questions without touching a calculator.

These are the standard forms of each relationship as they appear in general biochemistry, general chemistry, genetics, and physiology courses, and as they are tested on the MCAT. Physical constants follow the CODATA recommended values: the gas constant R is 8.314 J mol−¹K−¹ (0.08206 L·atm mol−¹K−¹ for gas-law work) and the Faraday constant is 96485 C mol−¹.
On rounding and conventions. Exam questions usually accept R as 8.314 and body temperature as 310 K, and most answers are insensitive to the third significant figure. Where a quantity has more than one common convention, such as P/O ratios in ATP yield or the two readings of a dilution ratio, the linked calculator states which one it uses.
